Works by Ilse Bing

Self-portrait Ilse Bing... Self-portrait (Paris, 1931, Gelatin-silver print). From Works by Ilse Bing at the Victoria and Albert Museum. "...Her immediate and exclusive use of the most advanced cameras, the Leica, and her rapid success as a photographer earned her the title 'Queen of the Leica'. Living in Paris at the height of the Modernist period, Bing supported herself through commercial photography, gaining a reputation as a photojournalist on illustrated magazines such as Le Monde Illustré, and as a fashion photographer specialising in accessories for Harpers Bazaar. She also regularly exhibited her work in France, Germany and the USA."
