"...Joan Gentry began work in photography as a teenager photographing sites of interest in the Albuquerque, New Mexico, area as she explored every aspect of the local deserts and buildings. She made a commitment to serious photography and attended the University of New Mexico where she received a B.A. in Fine Arts. This grand experience opened doors to many types of processes and mind-expanding opportunities working within the Photography Department. As a result, her work has become eclectic, from using the incredible New Mexico light and working with shapes and shadows to mysterious dwellings once inhabited by the Anasazi.
